Boot camp: a distant memory to some,
A figment of imagination others others.
All we know is this port to which we’ve come
Laying down our arms alongside our brothers.
Many eat and drink to their heart’s content
While others play cards and throw dice.
It seems a casino that they have been sent
They gamble and cavort, never thinking twice.
To a small few, the amusement is not enough.
Why were we not sent straight to the frontline?
At any time we may be grabbed by the scruff
And shipped away; the decision isn’t yours or mine.
Human nature is but to sin
The greatest battle lies within.
